Brief Biography:

I am an attorney licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia, and the Chairman of a law firm in Pittsburgh. I am also the President of Pennsylvania Firearms Development Corporation ("PFDC"). One of PFDC's activities was to develop a firearms training program which brought nationally known instructors to the Pittsburgh area between 1995 and 2003. In 2003 that program was turned over to the Firearms Instruction, Research & Education (F.I.R.E.) Institute, a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation devoted to firearms instruction, research and education. I am the current Executive Director of the F.I.R.E. Institute, and a member of its Board of Directors.

As part of my training to be a firearms instructor, I have assisted several nationally known instructors in the conduct of their courses. These included approximately a dozen 3-day basic carbine courses, three 3-day Level II or "Intermediate" tactical carbine courses, approximately fifteen 3-day basic tactical pistol courses, eight 2-day Night/Low-Light pistol/revolver courses, and two 3-day Night/Low Light Carbine courses.

My training has also included acting as an instructor in approximately six courses in defensive tactics, given by Operational Skills Group, LLC.

Firearms Instructor Experience:

In 1997 I began presenting courses of firearms instruction as the Rangemaster. I have been Rangemaster in approximately twenty-five Level I tactical carbine courses (approximately 175 graduates), approximately twelve 3-day intermediate level tactical carbine courses (approximately 25 graduates), six two-day personal firearms tactics courses (38 graduates), and several dozen three to four hour seminars on specific aspects of carbine use.

I have also shared responsibility as a Rangemaster in three upper-level defensive hand gun courses involving force-on-force training, six 3-day hand gun courses, three 2-day night/low-light hand gun courses, and I have assisted other instructors with a number of one-day introductory level hand gun courses offered by the F.I.R.E. Institute.

Beginning in 2005 I began teaching defensive tactics, particularly as they relate to contact distance assaults on CCW holders. I have been lead instructor or one-of-two instructors in several courses sponsored by the F.I.R.E. Institute and the Upper St. Clair Police Department, Upper St. Clair Township, Pennsylvania.

I have regularly lectured on the law pertaining to the use of deadly force, both in the context of firearms training courses and to community groups. An article I wrote on how a novice should select a firearms instructor was published in the April, 2006 issue of SWAT magazine.

As the current Executive Director of the F.I.R.E. Institute, I am responsible for direct supervision of all firearms training courses sponsored by the F.I.R.E. Institute.
